Click on Listen All and follow along. After becoming comfortable with the entire conversation, become Person A by clicking on the Person A button. You will hear only Person B through the audio file. There will be a silence for you to repeat the sentences of Person A. Do the same for Person B. The speed of the conversation is native speed. Use the pause button if the pause between each sentence is too fast for you. After practicing several times, you will be able to speak as fast as a native.

A: "It's that time of year again." 又到了这个时候了。

B: "Yeah. I always get nervous during this time." 是啊，在这段时间里，我总是很紧张。

A: "It shouldn't go too bad." 不应该这么糟糕的。

B: "So, how did I do this year?" 那我今年做得怎么样呢? 

A: "Let me first ask you how you feel about your performance?" 让我先问一下你对你的表现感觉如何? 

B: "I think I improved a lot and made a lot of great contributions. I completed all my assignments ahead of schedule, I volunteered for two more extra projects, and mentored a couple of our newer employees." 我想我进步了很多，也做出了很大的贡献，我提前完成了所有的任务，我自愿做了两个额外的项目，并且指导了几位新员工。

A: "I agree. You did great this year. I got your rating back from upper management and it's not bad, but it's not the best. You received a 3.5, a 4 percent raise, and an 8 percent bonus." 我同意，你今年做得很棒。
我从上层管理中得到了你的评分，这并不坏，但也不是最好的，你得到了3.5分，4%的加薪，还有8%的奖金。

B: "I got a 3.5? Why? I was really expecting a 4 this year. I really worked hard."我得了3.5分? 为什么? 我真的期待今年能得4分，我真的很努力。

A: "I agree. I think you should have received a four, but the only thing I can suggest is for you to be more visible. The people who beat you this year didn't necessarily do better work than you, it's just that people knew the work they were doing more than yours. A: "If 3 people are equal in their work, the only deciding factor is how much of the work they know about. Since upper management cannot know the details of everything, they mainly see the people who are visible. You can do this by taking on projects that affect the whole team so everyone can see, or you can be pro-active in finding places for improvements and sending out a mail to management with your ideas." 如果三个人在工作上做的是一样的，唯一的决定因素是他们知道多少工作，由于上层管理人员无法了解所有细节，他们主要看的是谁比较显眼。你可以通过承担影响整个团队的项目来做到这一点，这样每个人都能看到，或者你可以积极主动地寻找改进的地方，并把你的想法给管理层发邮件。

B: "If I did a great job, why did I only get a 4 percent raise?" 如果我做得很好，为什么只加薪4% ? 

A: "You got a high raise comparing to other people. The average raise throughout the company was 2 percent. They cut back a lot on raises due to the slow economy." 你比别人得到了更高的加薪了，整个公司的平均加薪幅度是2%，由于经济不景气，他们削减了很多。

B: "I'm a little disappointed, I'll see you tomorrow." 我有点失望，明天见。
A: "Ok. Think about what I said and we'll try to give you more assignments with more visibility." 好的，想想我说过的话，我们会给你更多的拥有可见性的任务。
